Suffolk 60 Care Presents $15,000 Grant To The Western Tidewater Free Clinic
SUFFOLK, VA- Suffolk 60 Care (S60C) selected nine outstanding local community organizations to receive its 2007-2008 grant awards equaling $40,000 and has been distributing these checks over the summer. “Suffolk 60 Care is pleased to support the local community by donating funds to the Western Tidewater Free Clinic so that they may purchase EKG and AED (defibrillator) machines, “ stated Vice President Ashley Greene as she presented the $15,000 grant to the Western Tidewater Free Clinic’s Executive Director, April Knight and Stephie Broadwater, member of the Board of Directors on Monday, August 13.
This grant is the largest single donation by the group, founded just two years ago.
The Western Tidewater Free Clinic is a non-profit, community-based organization that provides medical care for the citizens of Franklin, Isle of Wight, Southampton and Suffolk who do not have health insurance and who meet eligibility requirements (eligibility determination is done Wednesdays from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.). The volunteer medical staff sees patients by appointment on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. April Knight upon accepting the check said, “Suffolk 60 Care exemplifies the best in our community--a group of citizens committed to strengthening their community.
Not only is Western Tidewater Free Clinic profoundly grateful for their hard work and financial support - which has already benefited many of our most vulnerable neighbors - we are honored to be associated with them.” To learn more about services provided at WTFC, to volunteer at the Clinic or to support it with donation, please contact them at 757-923-1060 or visit www.WTFreeClinic.org.
